Rucker Road Reconstruction Project
The City of Roswell will host a groundbreaking ceremony for its portion of the Rucker Road improvement project on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2019, at 2 p.m., at 12155 Houze Road, Alpharetta, GA 30004.
This project will reconstruct Rucker Road from the Alpharetta city limits to the SR 140/Houze Road intersection in Roswell. Roswell’s project was designed to seamlessly tie into Alpharetta’s portion of the Rucker Road improvements, which have been under construction since October 2017. The project will add a new center turn lane, as well as eight-foot multi-use trails on both sides of road and a three-foot bike shoulder.
To maximize efficiency, affordability, and consistency, the two cities are using the same contractor, CW Matthews, to complete both portions of the project. Roswell is funding their portion of the project (approximately $2.9 million) with funds from the Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (TSPLOST), which was approved by voters in November 2016.
Anticipated completion for Roswell’s section of the project is winter 2019/2020, shortly after the expected completion of Alpharetta’s portion.
Drivers can expect to see a portion of Rucker Road within the Alpharetta city limits closed from the end of May when Fulton County Schools break for the summer to the beginning of August when schools are back in session. More information about this closure and detours will be shared closer to the closure date.
