Microsoft Office 2010 Training

The City of Roswell, through the Roswell University training initiative, is offering Microsoft Office 2010 training to interested employees. These sessions will be conducted by New Horizons Computer Learning Centers, but offered here at the City of Roswell. Take advantage of the opportunity to learn “at your place, at your pace, and in a comfortable space!” The following sessions are currently open for registration:

These sessions are limited to a class size of 12 participants, so register early using the links above. Please discuss your participation in the session(s) of interest to you with your immediate supervisor and make arrangements and scheduling commitments for your participation prior to enrollment. After the maximum class size is achieved, we will create and maintain a standby list to fill in vacant spots in the current class and to plan for future sessions of the same topic.

The City has partnered with New Horizons to offer workshops which will help staff with the different types of writing done in the work environment. The following sessions are currently open for registration:

In this course, students will review the rules of grammar, identify common grammar errors, and refine their business writing style. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
  • examine nouns, pronouns, and verbs.
  • identify adjectives and adverbs
  • identify prepositions, conjunctions, and interjections
  • identify some important rules of grammar and some commonly made grammatical errors
  • identify grammar rules regarding correct punctuation
  • identify problematic sentence fragments, run-ons, and comma splices, as well as effective methods of rewriting sentences so that they are clear and complete
  • identify methods for improving word choices
  • identify methods for building effective sentences
  • identify methods for editing text effectively
  • identify methods for avoiding some common errors made by overzealous writers who create hypercorrections in their own work

Supervisory Development Training

The City of Roswell is implementing a Supervisory Development Training program to offer current supervisors or those who desire to grow into a supervisory role the opportunity to enhance the necessary skills for being a successful supervisor with the City of Roswell.
